Mermaid Surf School does not provide parking. You are required to park in designated public parking spaces. There are spaces along the street and a public parking lot with bathrooms/ showers located directly across the street from public access #36.
Payment is required from 9 AM-8 PM.
Please arrive early to give yourself plenty of time to find a parking space, pay for parking, and arrive on the beach in time for your surf session. Lessons will NOT be extended for late arrivals.
Preparing for your session:
Please be ready for your surf session 5-minutes before your designated start time.
Don't forget to pack water, sunscreen, a towel, and shoes (the sand can get extremely hot).
What to wear:
We recommend wearing a tight-fitting and comfortable bathing suit. A one-piece is suggested. A tight-fitting two piece will work great as well. Rashguards are optional and they are not provided.
Check out our Wetsuit Guide for an in-depth explanation of suggested suit options for surfing at Wrightsville Beach.
What is provided:
Soft-top surfboards are provided for ALL surf lesson students and all beginner campers.
Wetsuits and rashguards are not provided.
Surfers in our surf club, coaching sessions, and intermediate surf camps are required to bring their own surfboard and gear.
What to expect:
Mermaid Surf instructors will meet you on the beach to get you set-up and totally stoked for your session! All sessions begin with a dry-land surf instruction & safety session before we get in the water. Your instructor will support your current skill level and help you work towards achieving your surfing goals in a fun, safe, and supportive environment!
Tips are appreciated:
Our small and dedicated team of Mermaid Surf instructors work hard to provide our students with the most fun, safe, and supportive surf experience possible! Please consider providing your instructor with a cash tip if you had a great experience. You will also have the opportunity to leave a tip and review through the link in your follow-up message after your lesson. Thank you in advance for your support!
Weather and surf conditions:
Safety and a positive surf experience are our top priority. Mermaid Surf School will send you a cancellation notification via phone and email in case we need to cancel your session. The weather and surf conditions can change unexpectedly and quickly. We will use our best judgement to keep our students safe and stoked.
